How Many Jets Should a Hot Tub Have?

A common question I hear from new hot tub customers is “how many jets does this hot tub have”? I like to ask customers why they ask that question and why the number of jets is important to them. I have found that customers have seen hot tubs online or at big box stores, that boast a large number of jets, making a lesser quality hot tub seem like a good value. When looking at hot tubs through online merchants and big box stores, you can come to the misconception that the number of jets relates to therapeutic value of a hot tub, which isn’t entirely true.

When it comes to jets, I like to show customers that it is not the number of jets, it is the placement and size of the jets. Most tubs sold online and at big box stores may have a lot of jets, but they are typically all one size, usually small.

Smaller jets will provide a stronger type of massage, which works well on certain parts of your body. Larger jets will produce a softer tissue massage. The leading brand hot tubs you find through specialty dealers have seats and jets designed to properly provide therapy to all parts of your body.

Also consider the size and number of pumps a hot tub has in relation to the jets. A hot tub with a single pump, or lower horsepower pumps with a lot of jets may not provide adequate water flow through the jets.
